WHAT TO BE?
I've gone back and forth about the nature of this blog, and what I aim to achieve with it. I'll be honest and admit that it's been a bit of a mishmash, a little unfocussed as I was trying to figure out my voice and my intentions in writing. First it's probably a good idea to understand what blogs, not unlike any other online content, is meant to do in the first place.
DRIVING TRAFFIC
You don't have to google far to realize that there is an entire blogging industry based off of consumption marketing. Research is done to see what hot trend is coming, or what cool products are selling, and then a blog is written around that concept. So the blog itself is a product of marketing, and not a genuine attempt at communicating. Now certainly blogs offer different things from education to marketing to stream of thought ramblings. But rest assured that a whole lot of blogs are around to sell stuff. And why not? You want to buy, we want to sell, it's a marriage of convenience!
I'm no different, I would love to use this space to promote some of our products (and I do for sure), but I can't just robotically write some product pushing blog. I need to bare my soul in some fashion, talk about what I consider important, and try to connect with other like-minded people who may share in my joy and pain.
MOVING FORWARD
I'm not saying I won't post tech roundups or do some fairly obvious marketing (I do want you guys to buy t-shirts afterall), but I would like to do more of these ramblings, of sorts. It's therapeutic to write, and I hope it provides some value for you, in whatever fashion you deem appropriate. So this would/will be the first of my rants, for lack of a better word. I will attempt to stay on the Geek topic, cause it's our reason for existing!
And don't forget to sign up to the mailing list for news and giveaways at the end of each month!
